🎥 Part 1/3 of our Experimental Documentary series
In his sophomore feature, titan documentarian and cinéma vérité trailblazer Frederick Wiseman takes us to North East Philadelphia Public High School, against the tumultuous backdrop of the late 60s. This is his only collaboration with freewheeling cinematographer Richard Leiterman, features one of his only uses of non-diegetic sound, and is one of the few institutions he documents that almost every viewer will have experienced firsthand. With his signature fly-on-the-wall style, Wiseman finds the poignant, the comedic, and the human inside the rigidity of the American education system’s everyday indoctrinations of discipline and conformity.
There is ample free street parking surrounding RPL that is unlimited on weekends. Free refreshments will also be available inside. As always, we are very appreciative of our hosts at the Richmond Public Library Main Branch for making this partnership possible.
THERE WILL BE A TEST.
